Since its foundation in 1985, Alvac’s activities has always been closely linked to the construction, repair and maintenance of civil works. During its first three years of existence, the company contracted these services primarily with different national, regional and local administrations in the region of Castile-León.
In 1988, Alvac relocated its corporate headquarters to Madrid, and was awarded winter maintenance contracts in a number of different roads and highways in the provinces of Segovia, Burgos, Zaragoza, Salamanca, Palencia, Ávila and Madrid, as well as a number of contracts pertaining to road repair, road sign and marking restoration, gardening and other roadwork activity.
This same year, Alvac also began its activities in the environmental sector, producing a wide range of civil works and developing numerous activities related to environmental protection.
In 1991, Alvac was awarded one of the first comprehensive road maintenance contracts to be tendered in Spain, the N1 motorway between the city of Madrid and the town of Buitrago to the north. From that moment on, growth was constant and the company specialized in these contracts, expanding its presence all over Spain.
In 1999, the company certified its quality management system with an ISO 9002 certificate. An ISO 14000 certificate soon followed in 2002, and the company is currently weeks away from certifying a Research, Development and Innovation management system in accordance to the UNE 166002 norm.
Another major milestone was reached in 2008, when the company was successful in tendering for the concession of the Autopista de La Mancha (Motorway of Castile-La Mancha), in the province of Ciudad Real (South-East Spain). The company’s commitment to this business area is, therefore, also firm.
Alvac’s international expansion, which had begun in 2010, received a major boost in 2011, with the establishment of a permanent delegation in the city of Lima (Peru). The company is in the process of expanding said Latin American presence to Chile.
Alvac currently has over €6million invested in machinery and employs over 500 highly qualified individuals in permanent training, among them over 60 university graduates and post-graduates. The company manages 18 comprehensive road maintenance contracts, making the company responsible for the upkeep of over 2400 km. of roads and one of the leading companies in the field.
